In 1950, Bogosian was born in Istanbul, Turkey – a city, home to a cultural tradition of fine jewelry for hundreds of years. At the tender age of 10, Bogosian began a full-time apprenticeship with one of Istanbul’s finest jewelry houses; and by age 16, he had attained the highest level of skills in metal, diamond setting and design, and creating pieces from start to finish. Not long after, Bogosian immigrated to the United States and established a reputation in Studio City, California as a well-respected fine jeweler.
In 1972, he opened a retail jewelry store on Ventura Boulevard, where it still stands today. Through his expertise and imaginative spirit, Michael B. Jewelry quickly became a leader in the industry. In the 1990s when gold was the most popular choice for precious metals, Bogosian reimagined platinum, which has now become one of the most beloved materials for bridal jewelry and rivals both white and yellow golds. Michael B. Jewelry rings were the first to introduce micro pavé – the technique of setting ultra-miniature diamonds to give the center stone a greater ambiance – which now elegantly graces thousands of wedding and engagement rings. These and his many other innovative fine jewelry designs will continue to be cherished by brides from all over the world for many years.
